Moving with a focus on the Spine

Moving from the back of my body today brought new sensations into my dance. To really focus on moving from the back using the 3 halos of pelvis, rib cage, and crown. Then to encompass the 3 rhelms while dancing the whole spine was a joy. I felt truly alive, extended and open.

In Nia we use inspiration from 9 different movement forms to add variety, bring new sensations, and purposely choose the type of feeling and emotion to engage the body*mind & spirit. Wow, such a powerful tool. As I moved my body with a focus on the spine, taking power and strength from Tae Kwan Do, grace and time from Tai Chi, fun from Jazz dance, movement from the top using techniques of Alexander, I could really identify with my spine in appreciation for what it allows me to achieve in the daily dance of life!

It's never too late to begin to become aware of your body movement or non movement. After all your time is now, so don't be  afraid, get to it. It is your birthright to use the body the way it was designed. Nia helps you by guiding you through the whole body, aligning with your level of energy, bringing a new confidence, with joy and elation. Nia is for EveryBody!
